In this sales overlay position, the Engagement Manager acts as a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them toward successful business outcomes with the GitLab platform. The professional collaborates closely with Sales, Customer Success, and Professional Services Delivery teams to ensure high levels of client satisfaction and platform adoption.
Ideal candidates are comfortable driving discovery sessions, creating custom-scoped services proposals, explaining technical solutions, and meeting financial targets. Fluency in French is a mandatory requirement for the job. Team members are expected to incorporate artificial intelligence into daily workflows as a productivity multiplier.
Responsibilities
- Conduct discovery sessions with account teams and clients to understand current operations, constraints, and business goals
- Identify and propose standard and custom services aligned with customer objectives
- Build custom-scoped services engagement proposals for strategic clients
- Explain technical solutions, value propositions, and service catalogs to customers and account teams
- Help customers understand commercial terms including pricing, performance periods, and payment structures
- Guide account executives in executing governing legal agreements and incorporating consulting and education services on order forms
- Coordinate the closing process alongside account executives
- Collaborate with the professional services operations team to match staffing requirements by skillset, language, and timezone
- Address standard price and implementation objections
- Maintain and update quarterly bookings forecasts weekly using Salesforce and Clari
- Communicate risks promptly to account executives and leadership
- Partner with account executives, customer success managers, and solutions architects to integrate global services into the customer journey
- Participate in sales leadership forecast calls to report on services forecasts
- Provide predictable and timely responses to client and account team inquiries
- Establish mentorship with senior engagement managers and maintain individual development plans
- Report customer behavior trends back to the practice management team
