Canonical, the publisher of the Ubuntu platform and a provider of open source software and operating systems, is seeking an Engineering Manager for IAM (Identity and Access Management). In this role, you will lead a team building secure identity and access solutions in Go and Python used across company offerings like Ubuntu One SSO, Juju, LXD, and MAAS. You will collaborate with upstream open source projects and internal groups to deliver software deployable on bare metal, public cloud, and Kubernetes.

This position is suited for a software engineering manager who has a passion for distributed systems operations and wants to shape identity management architecture. The ideal candidate brings strong technical design capabilities, security awareness, and leadership experience. Team members handle software development from coding and testing to documentation and troubleshooting, while also engaging with broader open source communities through webinars, conferences, and hackfests.

Responsibilities

  • Define the technical vision for products in collaboration with product management
  • Manage the team backlog and review code

  • Collaborate with internal teams and upstream open source projects

Requirements
