The platform is currently seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Knowledge Graph Platform group, an impactful team situated at the intersection of artificial intelligence, data systems, and platform engineering. In this position, the selected individual will guide engineering professionals who build foundational architecture responsible for organizing entities, context, and relationships across platform content.
This leadership role involves shaping technical roadmaps, defining data and API contracts, establishing production standards, and partnering with cross-functional groups such as computational linguists. The technical infrastructure managed by this group directly influences advertising systems, consumer feeds, search capabilities, shopping features, and contextual grounding initiatives. Candidates should enjoy establishing clarity within evolving environments and collaborating across multiple time zones with diverse engineering partners.
The position is remote within the United States and Canada, though preference is given to applicants located in the Eastern Time Zone to align with team schedules. Regular collaboration with colleagues in the United States and the European Union is expected. Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and foster professional development for a team of software engineers focused on building the Knowledge Graph Platform
- Establish the technical vision and execution roadmap covering API contracts, data models, service interfaces, performance, reliability, and observability
- Utilize modern agentic patterns and state-of-the-art large language models for constructing knowledge graphs
- Define production operating standards including governance protocols, service-level objectives, quality assurance measures, and safe change management
- Collaborate with domain specialists, computational linguists, and engineers to create shared operating models for platform evolution and ontology
- Oversee data freshness and coverage within the knowledge graph to support priority use cases
- Coordinate with dedicated data labelers to meet shared targets for information quality and coverage
- Partner with product and internal engineering stakeholders to identify high-value priorities and expand platform access
- Drive graph-powered initiatives across search, shopping, consumer feeds, and ads marketplace models
- Contribute directly to architecture, design, and technical execution when complex problem-solving requires hands-on involvement
- Share strategy, risk assessments, and progress updates clearly across distributed, cross-functional teams
Requirements
- Eight or more years of total software engineering experience
- At least two years of direct experience managing, developing, and coaching engineering teams
- Proven background building or maintaining data-intensive or AI- and machine-learning-powered platforms with multiple internal user groups
- Understanding of how to transition a technical system into a product-like platform with customer operating models and self-service adoption paths
- Experience implementing data contracts concerning lineage, quality, or governance
- Technical judgment spanning distributed systems, backend services, data platforms, operational excellence, and APIs
Qualifications
- Experience working with knowledge graphs, ontology systems, semantic structures, entity resolution, contextual grounding, or search
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical discipline
- Master's degree or advanced education in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related field
