Job Description
Canonical is hiring a Financial Analyst to join its FP&A team and the wider finance team. The company is a profitable technology business that publishes Ubuntu, a flagship open source project and the platform behind much AI, IoT and cloud work. The company has worked remotely since 2004 and has colleagues across many countries.
The role is remote and covers Americas time zones. The analyst joins the monthly business reviews and helps with quarterly forecasts, yearly planning and modelling work, and helps drive alignment across functions. The post suits an analytical, independent thinker who wants to learn how to combine business judgement with data when advising on financial, commercial and strategic decisions.
Key responsibilities include analysing unit economics, variance drivers and other KPIs to explain how the business is performing. The analyst helps with the quarterly and yearly planning cycle, forecasts, reports and monthly budget checks. The role also reviews commercial initiatives that have strategic or financial impact, builds objective analyses and processes so the company can scale efficiently, and supports cross-functional projects that improve systems, processes and data accuracy. The analyst keeps key stakeholders informed about progress toward financial and strategic goals.
