In this senior accounting position, the professional functions as the lead accounting authority for the operating business and its acquired entities. Reporting directly to corporate finance while collaborating closely with operational leaders, the person in this role oversees the complete accounting lifecycle, manages working capital, and assists with acquisition integrations.
This is a hands-on assignment designed to maintain accurate financial records, accelerate monthly closes, execute system reconciliations, and enforce internal controls. The ideal candidate takes charge of cash operations, monitors credit risk, and provides dependable financial data for parent-level reporting and mergers and acquisitions. Responsibilities span multi-entity month-end closes, cash flow forecasting, accounts payable and receivable administration, factoring platform reconciliations, and the integration of newly acquired businesses.
This opportunity is well-suited for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a structured corporate environment and possesses deep technical expertise in US GAAP. The position operates on a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time based on Cincinnati hours. The selected individual will supervise staff accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable teams while establishing standard operating procedures and ensuring cross-training across critical workflows.
Responsibilities
- Manage the month-end close process across multiple entities to deliver preliminary financials by Business Day 7 and final close by Business Day 10
- Prepare balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, reconciliations, and audit-ready schedules compliant with US GAAP
- Coordinate all external audit, tax, regulatory, and lender reporting requirements
- Reconcile operational platforms, transportation management software, bank accounts, payroll, and the general ledger
- Oversee end-to-end accounts payable, payment runs, aging schedules, and weekly rolling 13-week operating cash flow forecasts
- Supervise billing, cash application, collections, accounts receivable aging, and factoring relationships
- Monitor customer creditworthiness, maintain credit registers, enforce credit limits, and issue weekly risk reports
- Lead accounting integration efforts for newly acquired entities including opening balances and system migrations
- Lead and mentor staff accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable team members
Requirements
- Minimum of seven years of progressive accounting experience
- At least three years of experience serving as a Controller or Assistant Controller
- Hands-on expertise with multi-entity month-end closes and high-volume accounts payable and receivable management
- Demonstrated proficiency in building 13-week cash forecasts and managing customer credit administration
- Strong command of US GAAP principles and internal control design
- Advanced Excel skills
