Wise is hiring a FinCrime Investigator focused on Fraud to protect its platform and users from financial crime. In this on-site role, the investigator will examine customer behavior and financial transactions, assess monitoring alerts, and execute detailed reviews to prevent fraud and money laundering. The position involves managing complex escalations, training peers, and collaborating with engineering teams to refine fraud detection rules while meeting strict performance targets.

Responsibilities
- Investigate potentially suspicious activity using internal and external data sources
- Analyze complex financial transactions and behaviors associated with fraud or money laundering
- Evaluate alerts from transaction monitoring systems and detection tools
- Gather and assess KYC information, transaction records, and supporting documents
- Draft detailed investigation reports documenting findings and recommendations
- Handle complex FinCrime case escalations from other operations teams
- Train and mentor other team members on investigative practices
- Work with product and engineering teams to enhance fraud detection rules and systems
- Communicate with customers via approved channels to gather details for reviews
- Liaise with law enforcement agencies and financial institutions as needed
- Complete all mandatory company training modules on time
Requirements
- At least two years of experience in compliance, operations, or a related field
- Familiarity with financial crime or AML processes
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to conduct objective investigations and analyze complex data
- Willingness to work flexible hours including shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field
- Experience working in a fintech company or global financial institution
- Possession of relevant credentials such as CAMS, ICA, CFCS, or equivalent certifications
- Proficiency in SQL or alternative data analysis tools
- Proficiency in additional languages beyond English
