Job Description

Zopa is recruiting a Fraud Operations Specialist for its fraud prevention team in Manchester. The post works to stop fraud against customers while making sure genuine people experience little friction. It is a full-time, shift-based role covering the day's alerts and fraud claims for every Zopa product.

Typical work involves going through documents, listening to suspicious calls and gathering evidence to back up a claim or investigation. Specialists review inbound and outbound payments within agreed service levels and aim for decisions that are prompt, well reasoned and do not hold up legitimate transactions.

The role is hybrid, with three days a week in the Manchester office, which the posting places at a WeWork site on John Dalton Street. Each shift is 7.5 hours, starting no earlier than 8:00am and finishing no later than 8:00pm, Monday through Friday. Every other week, staff also work one weekend day remotely, running from 9:00am until 5:30pm, and take a weekday off in lieu. Some bank holiday cover may be needed.

The posting seeks someone with a careful eye for detail, a background in a financial institution and sound judgement that holds up under pressure. Integrity and courteous treatment of customers and colleagues are also valued.

Responsibilities

  • Manage fraud escalations raised during applications, such as document checks, call reviews and concerns found at onboarding
  • Review inbound and outbound payments promptly, keeping legitimate payments moving
  • Look into requests to change personal details and apply them only after every concern is cleared
  • Run fraudulent-transaction claims from start to finish, filing Visa chargebacks where they apply
  • Detect first-party fraud and pass it on with well-supported reasoning
  • Update customers during investigations and set realistic expectations
  • File Cifas reports and cooperate with other lenders and law enforcement where needed
  • Assist senior staff and team leads with urgent cases and advise colleagues on fraud questions

Requirements

  • A track record in a comparable position at a financial institution
  • Prior work using Cifas and Visa systems
  • Working knowledge of fraud and AML law and regulation
  • Meticulous examination of documents
  • Ability to rank cases and remain effective under pressure
  • Comfort in a quick-moving environment
  • Integrity and respect toward customers and colleagues

Core Skills

Benefits
