This remote position requires a weekly availability of 35 to 40 hours with overlap during US East business hours. The organization provides data collection and management tools utilized by more than 32,000 global organizations, including major international humanitarian groups and smaller community partners across 200 countries, helping them gather and analyze over 20 million surveys every month.
This role suits a candidate with substantial background in large web applications who values teamwork, curiosity, and initiative. Developers will interact with an extensive existing code base, write clean and testable code, review peer submissions, and collaborate closely with technical colleagues and support staff. The position involves addressing bug reports, organizing tasks, and participating in regular video conferences. Responsibilities
- Navigate and study an extensive code base to comprehend established patterns and functionalities
- Identify outdated conventions and propose upgrades that follow modern industry standards
- Produce clean, concise, and reusable code complete with documentation and tests
- Evaluate code written by peers and deliver constructive feedback
- Investigate support tickets to create targeted fixes or resolution plans
- Prioritize, scope, and organize tasks into manageable units of work
- Participate in regular video meetings with the technical team
- Communicate with the public via forums, support channels, and issue trackers
- Engage in architectural and design discussions with the broader team
Requirements
- Professional background in writing, deploying, and maintaining client-side code for real-world API-driven single-page applications
- Proficiency in TypeScript, React, state management, styling, and HTTP data exchange
- Capability to work with legacy technologies such as Backbone and CoffeeScript
- Recent experience in participating in code reviews
- Ability to independently set up and troubleshoot a local development environment
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Fluency with Git
- Schedule availability with overlap in the Eastern time zone of at least 30 to 35 hours per week
Qualifications
- Experience using Docker and Docker Compose in development settings
