Job Description
This full-time position is for a senior engineer who works across the whole stack on an AI-driven financial crime investigation product at Ebury. The office is in London, and the arrangement is hybrid: four days on site and one day from home.
The product uses AI agents to work through large numbers of screening cases for compliance staff, aiming to lighten analyst workload without weakening regulatory controls. The engineer would be responsible for the full stack, spanning React interfaces, Python services and large language model integrations.
The posting frames the work as building live AI systems where AI, financial technology and compliance meet. The team is small but expanding, with plans to exceed ten members within a year. The product is new, so the hire would help define it from the outset instead of inheriting older code.
The role suits an engineer with several years of experience who can take intricate features from concept to release, guide less senior colleagues and weigh in on architecture and team practices. Ebury, a fintech, pairs business accounts with hedging and financing tools in one system.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship end-to-end features spanning the React client and FastAPI services
- Build AI agent flows using LangGraph for automated screening, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines and coordinated multi-agent work
- Take ownership of complicated work from initial design through production, splitting vague problems into concrete tasks
- Connect intricate data sources, such as internal interfaces, outside providers like LexisNexis and the data warehouse, handling errors and building in observability
- Strengthen uptime and performance through monitoring, alerts and tuning of live AI services
- Coach junior and mid-level developers through reviews, pair programming and advice
- Help set architecture direction, coding norms and team workflows
- Partner with product and design staff, compliance colleagues and the rest of engineering
Requirements
- Five or more years of building professional software
- Solid React and TypeScript work, covering frontend architecture, state handling, performance and tests
- Strong Python backend skills with FastAPI, Django or Flask, including asynchronous code
- Ability to design systems and explain trade-offs clearly
- Experience designing APIs with REST and with WebSockets or server-sent events (SSE)
- Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including query tuning and data modelling
- A habit of thorough testing and clear written and spoken communication
- A track record of guiding less experienced engineers
Qualifications
- Work with LLM tooling such as LangChain, LangGraph, retrieval pipelines, prompt design or fine-tuning
- Production AI practice, including LLM monitoring with Langfuse, token budgeting, streaming and dependable design patterns
- AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, OpenSearch and Bedrock
- Streaming systems built on SSE, WebSockets or event-driven designs
- Background in fintech or compliance, including AML, KYC or other regulated sectors
- Micro-frontend work with Module Federation
- Infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, CDK or comparable tools
