Job Description
The Group Lead role in Assets Risk is part of Wise's Global Risk function. It is a second line position that reports to the Head of Risk Product Governance and is based in London on a hybrid pattern, with three days onsite and two days from home. Working hours run from 9am to 6pm. The role supports Wise Assets, an investment feature within the multi-currency account in which eligible customers can invest their balances in money market funds or stocks run by third-party fund managers, instead of holding cash.
The job centres on putting the enterprise risk management framework into practice for Wise Assets. The role covers setting risk appetite for the product, reviewing new products, features and market expansions, running risk and control self-assessments, overseeing control assurance and tracking issues through to remediation. It also includes monitoring key risk indicators, producing risk reporting for governance committees, and escalating exposures that fall outside approved appetite. The post provides independent challenge on risk assessments and control decisions, and works with Product, Compliance, Operations, Engineering, Legal, Audit and regional risk teams.
The posting is aimed at a risk professional with substantial experience in financial services, who can challenge and escalate while keeping stakeholder relationships constructive. Background in investment products or regulated investment firms is strongly preferred. Experience in global, cross-functional and technology-driven or high-growth organisations would also be an advantage.

- Oversee control assurance and drive issues and remediation plans to completion
- Monitor key risk indicators, incidents and emerging trends
- Produce risk reporting and insight for governance committees, including breaches of appetite
- Support risk training and awareness across the business
Requirements
- Substantial background in financial services, with first or second line risk roles in fintech, banking, wealth or investment settings
- Experience implementing or operating an enterprise risk management framework in a regulated firm
- Understanding of non-financial risk, including operational, regulatory, conduct and financial crime risk
- Able to challenge independently and escalate when needed, while keeping relationships constructive
- Analytical strength, sound data handling and clear reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Pragmatic, commercially aware and organised, able to work to tight timelines
Qualifications
- Background in investment products or regulated investment firms (strongly preferred)
- Experience in global, cross-functional or high-growth technology-driven organisations (advantageous)
