Bjak is seeking a Head of Design for a remote, full-time position. The employer operates a leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia, originally built in 2019 to make insurance accessible online for millions in the region, and focuses on reinventing how people spend, save, invest, exchange, and travel using smart financial and AI tools.
The Head of Design will act as a hands-on design leader, guiding product design quality and user experiences across the group's consumer products and brands. This role requires direct involvement in critical user journeys and product concepts, rather than a primary focus on people management.
Responsibilities
- Establish the design direction and quality bar across all group products
- Directly work on or review essential user journeys, product concepts, and interfaces
- Translate complex financial and AI workflows into straightforward consumer experiences
- Define standards across product design, interaction, visual design, and design systems
- Inspect shipped products to pinpoint specific usability and design issues
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams from initial concepts to production
- Recruit and evaluate senior product, UI, and brand designers
Requirements
- Provide a strong portfolio of shipped consumer technology products with meaningful usage
- Demonstrate deep product and interaction design capability
- Possess strong visual judgement and attention to interface details
- Be able to prototype and communicate product interactions directly
- Show experience working closely with product and engineering on shipped products
- Maintain a hands-on design style capable of creating, critiquing, and materially improving work directly
- Submit a portfolio showcasing relevant design work, projects, and achievements
