Bjak is seeking a Lead Engineer - Stock Trading App to assume technical ownership of complex systems and elevate the engineering standards of the team. Bjak develops financial applications designed to help people manage, save, and invest money, utilizing artificial intelligence to make financial services smart, accessible, and safe. Operating globally with a distributed international team, the company built the leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia starting in 2019.
This position is a hands-on technical leadership role suitable for engineers who want to stay close to the code while guiding major initiatives from concept to production. The ideal candidate will design scalable systems, write and review code, mentor other engineers, and drive technical execution. Responsibilities
- Lead technical design and execution for major products, features, and engineering initiatives
- Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems covering backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure
- Participate in hands-on engineering activities including coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging, and resolving production issues
- Make architecture decisions and technical trade-offs balancing speed, scalability, reliability, and maintainability
- Deconstruct ambiguous product and technical challenges into clear execution plans
- Mentor other engineers to strengthen technical capabilities across the team
- Review technical designs and code submitted by peers to provide actionable feedback
- Monitor production systems, investigate incidents, determine root causes, and improve long-term reliability
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, design, and artificial intelligence teams to ship products rapidly
Requirements
- Demonstrated background in software engineering with experience building and shipping production systems
- Technical expertise in areas such as backend development, frontend development, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure
- Proficiency in system design and architecture for complex or high-scale environments
- Strong coding abilities and a willingness to remain hands-on with development
- Experience providing technical leadership or guiding major engineering projects
