The engineering team is seeking a Head of Engineering to oversee Tide Credit Services, which provides fast on-demand lending solutions such as Credit Flex, Instant Loan, and Credit Score Insights.
In this senior, hands-on leadership position, the chosen professional will define the architectural vision, strategy, and execution for the lending technology platform. This individual will collaborate closely with product development, risk management, compliance, and various business units to deliver secure and fully automated lending tools. Duties include managing engineering teams, establishing high technical standards, integrating third-party financial services, and incorporating AI-native workflows. The tech stack relies heavily on Java 17, Spring Boot, event-driven architectures utilizing Kafka and SNS/SQS, and AWS infrastructure running MySQL and PostgreSQL datastores.

Responsibilities
- Define the technical and architectural roadmap for the credit platform to support rapid international expansion
- Lead the design and release of reliable, fast, and secure lending products for platform members
- Partner with product, risk, and compliance divisions to transition strategic goals into shipped features
- Manage external integrations with funding, payment, and credit data partners
- Participate directly in code architecture, design decisions, and complex engineering challenges
- Promote engineering standards relating to security, quality, system design, and AI-native practices
- Coach and mentor software engineers and engineering managers to foster a culture of learning
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of backend software engineering background
- At least 3 years of experience in senior engineering leadership roles
- Extensive background in building and maintaining scalable, fault-tolerant distributed and microservices systems
- Demonstrated history of integrating AI tools and large language models into software development lifecycles
- Experience operating within regulated business environments where compliance is a primary design factor
- Track record of deploying and scaling software solutions across multiple international jurisdictions

- Prior domain expertise in lending, loan servicing, credit decisioning, or repayments
