Job Description

Ebury's Bucharest office has an opening for a junior foreign exchange structurer. This full-time, on-site position is about finding the most suitable currency solution for clients in Romania. It fits a candidate with a quantitative academic background who wants to build skills in derivative pricing and bespoke FX products.

The structurer reviews each client's currency exposure and the hedges already in place, then designs risk management solutions suited to the client's trade and industry. Responsibilities include valuing currency derivatives, from straightforward options up to intricate exotic structures, drafting proposals for tailored structured products, and carrying out sophisticated hedges while staying within regulatory and compliance rules.

A large part of the work involves collaborating with the front office, FX dealers and FX sales staff. The structurer shares expert input and trains those colleagues on structured product strategy and pricing. The posting describes Ebury as a fintech established in 2009, with more than 2,000 staff across nearly 70 cities, and stresses the importance of market awareness and of keeping pace with rapidly changing currency markets. Work is carried out inside a regulated environment, so compliance awareness is part of everyday practice.

Requirements

  • Analytical and problem-solving ability, with strong numerical reasoning
  • A quantitative degree (MSc or BA) in a numerate discipline, for example finance, econometrics or applied mathematics
  • Grasp of pricing for spot, swap, NDF and option FX products, and interest in complex derivatives
  • Modelling skills, including building scenario analysis and stress tests
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Romanian
  • Advanced Excel, used for analysis and reporting
  • Eagerness to learn quickly in a demanding market

  • Python programming, regarded as a valuable asset for building quantitative models
