SGS is hiring a Laboratory Data Validation Specialist II to join the Global Business Solutions center. This position involves processing data for chemical laboratory analyses across multiple sample matrices including water, cosmetics, food, plastics, and textiles. The role requires executing calculations, performing peer reviews, managing LIMS entries, and ensuring that all results meet strict ethical and quality standards. In addition to processing duties, the selected professional will help train and mentor Data Validator I team members and provide constructive feedback. Candidates must communicate operational issues promptly, uphold the SGS Code of Integrity, and follow all QHSE policies. This role suits professionals with a background in chromatography and mass spectrometry who can maintain meticulous attention to detail while meeting scheduled laboratory deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Conduct data processing and quality assurance calculations for chemical lab samples
- Perform peer reviews to reduce errors and execute quality control checks
- Handle LIMS entries and other related data management tasks
- Train and mentor Data Validator I team members, offering constructive feedback
- Monitor lab deadlines and immediately notify leadership if turnaround times are at risk
- Maintain testing methodologies and quality control procedures in line with ISO17025 and SGS lab standards
- Report operational issues, personnel matters, and quality control inconsistencies immediately to relevant managers
- Participate in regular team and affiliate meetings to address ongoing issues
- Keep the workspace clean and presentable at all times
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of working experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry instruments including LC-MS and GC-MS
- Laboratory testing experience with at least two or three sample matrices such as non-food products
- Familiarity with software platforms like MassHunter, MultiQuant, or Analyst
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Demonstrated commitment to data quality, operational excellence, and analytical quality
Qualifications
- Master of Science degree in Analytical Chemistry strongly preferred, or a Bachelor of Science with a minimum of three years of working experience
- Prior experience with complex injection techniques such as headspace GC
- Familiarity with Python, AI programming, and data science
- Prior experience with SAP
