Job Description
Freshworks is searching for a Lead, Data Platform Engineering to build and ship enterprise MDM and data platform systems at scale. Core areas include Customer 360, data quality, identity matching, governance and modern cloud MDM programs that span enterprise applications. The on-site position calls for someone who knows MDM architecture well, has cloud depth, and can lead technical work hands-on.
Daily responsibilities include planning and implementing MDM and Customer 360 capabilities company-wide on cloud-based MDM products, guiding architecture discussions, and designing data models, matching and merging logic, survivorship policies, hierarchies and workflow settings. The lead builds and fine-tunes pipelines and integrations linking CRM, billing, analytics and downstream applications, runs data quality efforts involving profiling, cleansing and deduplication, and creates identity-resolution designs. Production support, monitoring, releases, root-cause investigations and capacity planning also fall to this role.
The engineer collaborates with business owners, architects, vendors and development teams, helps prepare the company's data foundation for AI, shapes release plans and estimates, and coaches junior staff. Applicants should hold a degree in engineering or computing, or show equivalent hands-on experience, and bring eight or more years of hands-on work in data engineering, master data management or enterprise platforms. Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise MDM and Customer 360 solutions on cloud-based platforms
- Guide technical architecture discussions and drive dependable engineering delivery
- Build data models, match and merge strategies, survivorship rules and workflow configurations
- Build and tune pipelines and integrations linking CRM, invoicing, analytics and downstream applications
- Run data quality work covering profiling, cleansing, standardizing, enrichment and dedupe
- Design identity resolution frameworks and the governance processes around them
- Run production jobs, monitoring, deployments and root cause analysis
- Plan how infrastructure scales and how ready operations are for enterprise data platforms
- Create data quality rules, dashboards and stewardship processes
- Mentor junior engineers and promote sound engineering practices
Requirements
- Eight or more years of hands-on work in data engineering, master data management or enterprise platforms
- A degree in engineering or computing, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Command of MDM concepts such as Customer 360, matching, survivorship, identity resolution, hierarchy management and governance
- Hands-on work with at least one MDM product, such as Reltio or Informatica MDM
- Skilled at data quality work: profiling, cleansing, standardizing records and detecting duplicates
- Strong SQL and experience with platforms such as Databricks or other modern warehouses
- Working experience on AWS, GCP or Azure
- Track record building scalable ETL or ELT pipelines and enterprise integrations
- Experience keeping production systems running, including deployments and monitoring
- Analytical, problem-solving and communication strengths
Qualifications
- Hands-on Python, Java or Scala experience (preferred)
- Work on AI-powered master data, FERN matching or Customer 360 programs
- Experience with enterprise SaaS or subscription platforms
- Familiarity with lakehouse designs and streaming technologies
- Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall delivery
- Grasp of governance, stewardship and day-to-day monitoring frameworks for data
- Nice to have: familiarity with agentic AI and customer intelligence built on AI
- Nice to have: metadata management and governance tooling experience
- Nice to have: enterprise architecture review and governance know-how
