Job Description
Cresta seeks a Lead Engineer, AI Agent Voice Experience to help create next-generation automated voice solutions for contact centers. Operating remotely, this position focuses on building end-to-end machine learning systems that enable AI to process, comprehend, reason, and converse naturally during live customer interactions. Cresta operates a unified conversational intelligence platform utilized by major global enterprises, combining generative AI, real-time agent support, and automated voice capabilities.
This opportunity suits an experienced machine learning professional who bridges the gap between theoretical model performance and production constraints. The individual will design evaluation frameworks, analyze failure points, optimize latency, and elevate caller experiences at scale. Daily responsibilities involve collaborating with applied researchers, product teams, and platform engineers to transition promising models into robust production environments.
The position includes a competitive base salary alongside equity opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support both professional and personal well-being.
Responsibilities
- Design, train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning systems for real-time voice interactions including speech-to-text, text-to-speech, speech-to-speech, turn detection, and reasoning
- Enhance voice AI quality through error analysis, dataset curation, benchmark creation, and iterative model refinement
- Build evaluation frameworks to measure accuracy, latency, robustness, naturalness, faithfulness, professionalism, and cost
- Identify and resolve failure modes such as transcription errors, tool misuse, hallucinations, prompt brittleness, and context drift
- Build and optimize low-latency machine learning pipelines that support natural caller interactions like backchanneling and emotion interpretation
- Partner with platform and backend teams to productionize streaming pipelines, real-time inference, and continuous iteration
- Work alongside product, design, and engineering groups to integrate voice intelligence into the platform
- Mentor team members and help define the technical direction for voice AI development
Requirements
