Job Description

Wise is looking for a Lead Product Analyst to work in its financial crime area, on-site in London. The position is graded IC3 in the company's analytics career framework. The analyst supports financial crime product teams with evidence-based choices that deter illicit activity, particularly money laundering, without making the experience frustrating for legitimate customers.

The analyst turns product and process information into self-service material, so product groups can answer their own questions without relying on the analytics team. Each quarter, the role sets and tracks headline metrics for product and operations teams and keeps them accountable for results. Working alongside data scientists, the analyst designs ways to detect and reduce financial crime and creates a structure for handling risk and user experience as volumes grow. The analyst also scopes emerging threats and suggests features, rules or models to address them.

Collaboration with product, data science, engineering and operations colleagues runs through the role. Analysts influence what teams pursue, and the company values finding opportunities in its large payment and customer datasets. Team members learn from colleagues worldwide, spanning analytics, data science and product management.

Candidates need at least four years of data analysis in a working environment, along with strong quantitative skills, ideally from statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering or another science. SQL and Python are essential. The successful candidate can convert operational questions into analytical work, handle ambiguity independently, and reduce complex systems to models that others can grasp. Visualisation tools such as Looker, Power BI or Tableau, storytelling with data, and a practical, get-it-done attitude are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Make product and process data accessible to product teams so they can self-serve insights
  • Own quarterly metrics and results for product and operational teams
  • Partner with data scientists on detecting and mitigating financial crime
  • Design the scaffolding that balances risk control against user experience as volumes climb
  • Scope discovery work and propose features, rules and models for emerging risks
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Engineering and Operations

Requirements

  • Four or more years of hands-on data analysis at work
  • Strong quantitative skills
  • Experience with SQL and Python
  • Ability to structure ambiguous problems and prioritise them independently
  • Ability to condense complex systems into simple, understandable models
  • Experience with visualisation tools such as Looker, Power BI or Tableau
  • Storytelling ability with data and a hands-on, get-it-done approach

Qualifications

  • Background in statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering or another scientific field
