Vercel is seeking an attorney to join its legal team as a Commercial Legal Counsel. Vercel acts as an infrastructure company that supports developers and agents in building software. In this position, the attorney will operate out of the San Francisco office, with a requirement to work on-site three days per week, and will report to the Senior Director of Legal, Commercial.

This role centers on managing a busy deal pipeline and partnering with departments such as Sales, Partnerships, and Procurement. The professional chosen will negotiate commercial agreements, utilize artificial intelligence tools to improve contracting processes, and potentially assist with product development projects. The position suits an enthusiastic attorney with relevant technology industry experience who can manage multiple fast-moving workstreams independently.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary legal point of contact for go-to-market and procurement transactions
  • Negotiate and manage customer, vendor, partnership, and reseller agreements independently
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable contracting processes, tools, and playbooks
  • Draft and maintain agreement templates, fallback positions, and playbooks
  • Provide advice on regional expansion strategies
  • Leverage artificial intelligence tools to build workflows and improve operational efficiency
  • Contribute to other legal initiatives, including product, privacy, security, and international commercial deals in EMEA and APAC

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in California or another US jurisdiction
  • Minimum of six years of legal experience, including at least two years in-house at a technology company
  • Familiarity with US privacy regulations and ability to discuss privacy matters with customers
  • Understanding of cloud-based services, artificial intelligence, and the global regulatory landscape
  • Demonstrated experience using artificial intelligence to create workflows, tools, and processes
  • Capacity to negotiate technology agreements independently with enterprise customers and technology vendors

Qualifications

  • Prior in-house experience specifically within AI, SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS companies
  • Experience supporting channel and reseller partnerships
  • Familiarity with using Vercel products and services
  • Proficiency in languages other than English
