This senior position offers wide autonomy to shape the multi-year strategy for technologies like Fluid compute, Vercel Functions, and Sandboxes. The individual selected will establish how users configure, scale, and execute workloads, ranging from individual functions to multi-service architectures and AI agents. Responsibilities
- Manage the product vision, long-term strategy, and multi-year roadmap for the compute platform
- Determine how the platform handles AI and agent workloads with unique I/O-bound and code-executing profiles
- Design the developer experience covering resource models, attributes, APIs, and configuration files
- Collaborate with engineering to establish performance and reliability benchmarks regarding cold starts and creation latency
- Establish pricing models for novel products and resources
- Build foundational compute primitives for adjacent product teams and coordinate platform requirements with them
- Engage directly with enterprise clients and the field team to resolve compute blockers related to adoption and scale
Requirements
- Experience building and shipping infrastructure or developer platform products including compute, serverless, containers, or runtime platforms
- Technical depth to evaluate concurrency, cold starts, isolation models, and performance tradeoffs
- Background managing a platform area adopted by other product teams to set technical direction
- Experience working with AI or agent workloads and understanding their resource profiles
- Direct experience interacting with enterprise customers regarding infrastructure needs
- Ability to utilize usage and product analytics data to guide roadmap decisions
Qualifications
- Previous employment at a cloud provider or on a serverless, container, or edge compute platform
- Engineering background or hands-on software development experience
- Experience handling multi-runtime platforms and evaluating tradeoffs across language runtimes
- Background working on sandboxing, isolation, or secure execution of untrusted code
