This contracting opportunity is for a Machine Learning Engineer to join a project-based assignment focused on creating an artificial intelligence-driven risk intelligence platform. This system assists enterprises in identifying, evaluating, and addressing online security issues, reputational attacks, and disinformation. The position functions as an individual contributor working alongside product stakeholders, backend engineers, and data engineers.
The ideal candidate will design, construct, and implement natural language processing and large language model architectures that analyze massive quantities of information from diverse online sources. This individual will establish embedding pipelines, build LLM-driven features, productionize scalable models, and create evaluation frameworks to track performance and mitigate drift.

Responsibilities
- Design, train, and deploy machine learning models handling text classification, entity extraction, clustering, and narrative detection
- Construct and enhance LLM-powered features encompassing prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic workflows
- Develop semantic-search and embedding pipelines to organize content and surface emerging online threats
- Productionize models into monitored services adhering to accuracy, cost, and latency targets
- Build evaluation datasets and frameworks to measure bias, quality, and model drift over time
- Collaborate with data engineering to refine feature, labeling, and ingestion pipelines for multilingual text data
- Monitor, retrain, and debug production models end to end
- Document technical approaches and communicate trade-offs to various stakeholders
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience building and launching machine learning models into production
- Strong Python programming skills along with practical usage of PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face Transformers
- Practical natural language processing background involving classification, named entity recognition, semantic similarity, or topic modeling
- Hands-on practice building applications using large language models like OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source variants
- Familiarity with vector search and embeddings using tools such as FAISS, Pinecone, pgvector, or OpenSearch
- Experience deploying and operating machine learning services via Docker and CI/CD pipelines on cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Solid understanding of model evaluation, monitoring, error analysis, and test sets
- Authorized to work for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship
Qualifications
- Background in threat intelligence, trust and safety, disinformation research, or social media data
- Experience developing tool-using LLM workflows or agentic AI systems using frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex
- Familiarity with multilingual natural language processing
- Exposure to MLOps tooling such as SageMaker, MLflow, Vertex AI, or Weights & Biases
- Experience with large-scale or streaming data processing tools like Spark, Kafka, or Airflow
- Experience distilling models or fine-tuning LLMs using PEFT or LoRA to reduce latency and cost
