This contracting opportunity is for a Software Engineer located in Mexico to join a remote team building an AI-powered risk intelligence platform designed to help organizations identify and address online threats. In this hands-on individual-contributor position, you will take ownership of features from start to finish while helping shape how the team utilizes artificial intelligence for software delivery.
The development process relies on a spec-driven, AI-assisted workflow. Rather than writing all code manually, engineers create detailed specifications, technical plans, and acceptance criteria before directing AI coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Kiro to generate, test, and refine the implementation.
This role suits an experienced software professional who already incorporates AI coding tools and structured specifications into daily development routines. You will collaborate daily with a US-based client team, handle backend services, APIs, and integrations, and maintain project documentation and coding standards to ensure consistent agent output.

Responsibilities
- Translate product requirements into precise technical specifications, plans, and task breakdowns for AI coding agents
- Utilize AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Kiro to build, review, test, and refine features
- Manage features across backend services, APIs, and integrations from initial specification to production deployment
- Establish acceptance criteria and automated tests prior to implementation to validate AI-generated code against specifications
- Maintain project context files, coding standards, reusable prompts, and templates to preserve output consistency
- Evaluate AI-generated and human-written code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability
- Refine team workflows, tooling, and continuous integration and deployment practices
- Participate in daily standups and technical discussions with the US-based client team
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience building and releasing production applications
- Practical daily workflow experience using AI coding agents beyond basic autocomplete
- Demonstrated background in spec-driven development using structured requirements or guides for AI implementation
- Proficiency in at least one backend language including Python, TypeScript, Node.js, or Go, alongside REST APIs and SQL databases
- Familiarity with full stack development including React or comparable modern frontend frameworks
- Solid testing discipline encompassing unit, integration, and test-first methodologies
- Proficiency with Git version control, code review processes, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience deploying applications to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Excellent written and spoken English proficiency, with strong written communication skills for documentation and specifications
Qualifications
- Experience developing LLM-powered product features like RAG, agents, or tool calling
- Background setting up AI development tools for teams, including MCP servers, agent rules files, or shared prompt libraries
- Familiarity with data-heavy or SaaS platforms, particularly within security, threat intelligence, or trust and safety
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or infrastructure as code tools like Terraform
- Previous experience collaborating with US-based clients or distributed teams
