Jumio is seeking a remote Machine Learning Engineer - IV focused on Biometrics to lead the creation and scaling of production-level face recognition systems. This role suits an experienced machine learning professional who wants to design computer vision systems, handle fairness evaluations, and manage end-to-end model architectures on AWS. Responsibilities include building automated data pipelines, generating synthetic training data, and optimizing algorithms for low-latency inference. Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and architecture of computer vision systems handling face recognition, detection, quality assessment, and attributes
- Conduct rigorous fairness analyses and benchmark biometric models across various operating conditions and datasets
- Architect, train, and refine models utilizing PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
- Manage complete machine learning pipelines stretching from data intake to deployment
- Build automated ingestion and cleaning pipelines via Airflow
- Curate balanced training sets and create synthetic data to bridge diversity and quality gaps
- Optimize models for low-latency inference through quantization, distillation, TensorRT, or ONNX
- Manage service deployment on AWS and scale training jobs across multi-GPU clusters
- Mentor team members, perform code and design reviews, and guide technical best practices
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional machine learning experience
- Minimum of 3 years of focused experience working in biometrics or face analysis
- Expert proficiency in Python alongside machine learning and vision libraries such as OpenCV, Pillow, and PyTorch
- Practical experience measuring and mitigating algorithmic bias and disparate impact in computer vision
- Background in designing end-to-end machine learning pipelines and utilizing workflow orchestrators like Airflow
- Hands-on expertise deploying services on AWS and scaling training jobs on multi-GPU clusters
Qualifications
- Research papers published in conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, or FG focusing on face recognition, image quality, or fairness
- Experience working with vector databases and approximate nearest neighbor search algorithms
- Familiarity with compliance, security, and privacy considerations in biometric systems
- Experience porting models to edge or mobile devices using LiteRT, TFLite, or CoreML
- Background using generative adversarial networks or diffusion models to produce synthetic faces for training
