Job Description
Vercel, which calls itself an agentic infrastructure company, is hiring a Machine Learning Engineer for its Trust and Safety Engineering team. The position is hybrid, located in San Francisco or NYC, with three office days weekly. The team builds and runs production systems that spot and halt abuse across the platform.
The job is mostly engineering. The posting describes roughly 80 percent of the time as writing and shipping production code for services, pipelines and infrastructure, and about 20 percent as modeling, turning detection ideas into hardened systems. The engineer would own work from end to end, from wiring a model into the platform to shipping, observing and refining it.
Responsibilities include building machine learning infrastructure such as training pipelines, feature pipelines, serving layers and evaluation frameworks. The engineer would ship language-model and classical machine learning methods for abuse detection, and coordinate with security, product and infrastructure colleagues to convert abuse patterns into production logic.
Strong candidates bring five or more years of software engineering work on production systems at scale, with production Python alongside JavaScript, TypeScript or Go. Prior work on machine learning infrastructure and on integrating language models into live products, including prompt design and evaluation, is expected. Work on fraud prevention, abuse-prevention systems or an open-source ML tool would be a bonus.
Responsibilities
- Create and operate production systems that catch and stop abusive activity
- Build and maintain training pipelines, feature pipelines, serving layers and evaluation frameworks
- Ship language-model and classical machine learning approaches for abuse detection
- Own systems from integration through deployment, monitoring and iteration
- Work with security, product and infra colleagues to translate abuse patterns into live logic

Qualifications
- Experience in trust and safety, fraud prevention or abuse-related work
- Experience building an open-source machine learning tool
Core Skills
Benefits
- Competitive pay package that includes equity
