Job Description

CoLab is hiring a remote Major Account Director to deepen relationships with existing enterprise customers and to pursue strategic new accounts. CoLab develops AI software that helps mechanical engineering teams design vehicles, jet engines and medical devices with fewer rework cycles. The company is headquartered in St. John's, Newfoundland.

The role focuses on landing and expanding accounts worth seven figures. The director builds and carries out account strategies, including detailed account planning and selling to several contacts at once, so the customer gets maximum benefit and CoLab grows its revenue. Finding and qualifying new opportunities inside current accounts is a core task.

This is a field-heavy position. Travel to customer sites averages about one week per month, and there are also team gatherings in Newfoundland, Canada, usually twice a year. The director needs to understand each customer's business and technical needs, act as an expert on CoLab and industry practice, and demonstrate a highly technical product to buyers who are new to it.

Expansions and renewals are handled together with Account Executives and Customer Success teams. Follow-up conversations and all activity are logged in Salesforce. The ideal person is resilient and goal-driven, comfortable in a fast-moving startup, and works with an owner's mindset, bringing either leadership of complex enterprise accounts in SaaS or an engineering background with strong closing ability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop ties with current customers and with strategic prospects that are new to CoLab
  • Create and run account strategies that deliver value to customers and revenue to CoLab
  • Map accounts and sell across several teams and departments at once

  • Advise customers on CoLab and industry best practices
  • Work with Account Executives and Customer Success teams on expansions and renewals
  • Understand customers' business and technical needs so they reach their goals
  • Follow up on conversations and log all activity in Salesforce
  • Travel to customer sites, averaging about one week per month

Requirements

  • Leadership of complex enterprise or key accounts in SaaS, or an engineering background plus real closing ability
  • At least one to two years working with large enterprise customers of 10,000+ employees
  • Ability to analyze use cases and demonstrate a highly technical product
  • Strategic thinking for complex enterprise sales of a product still new to the market
  • Comfort with detailed account planning and account mapping
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Resilient, self-motivated and goal-driven
  • Works well in a team, with an owner's mindset

Qualifications

  • Experience with manufacturing clients, such as automotive, medical device, or hardware and mechanical consumer products, is a bonus
