Socket is seeking a Member of Technical Staff for a remote position to help development and security teams eliminate security busywork when managing open source code. The organization has raised funding from prominent leaders and investors, serving customers ranging from Anthropic and Figma to Vercel and xAI.
This role suits an engineer who thrives in early-stage environments and wants to shape product foundations from scratch. As a Member of Technical Staff, you will develop the Socket web application end-to-end, collaborate closely with design and engineering peers, and help establish team culture and foundational frameworks. Your responsibilities will span building user interfaces, developing APIs, extracting and transforming data from third-party services, and participating in the hiring process. The position requires moving quickly, prioritizing effectively, and focusing intently on end-user needs while maintaining an agile approach to user feedback.
Candidates should bring hands-on experience designing and implementing production web applications in a zero-to-one role, building and integrating APIs, and working with relational databases such as Postgres. Familiarity with TypeScript, JavaScript, React, and Node.js is required, along with the ability to learn new technologies quickly. Bonus consideration is given for experience with ElasticSearch, GraphQL, data pipelines, or headless browsers.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to end-to-end development of the Socket web application
- Partner with the design team to build intuitive interfaces that simplify user experiences
- Write APIs to deliver data across multiple sources
- Extract and transform data sourced from third-party APIs
- Shape the product roadmap and participate in sprint planning to deliver features rapidly
- Take part in hiring activities, including conducting candidate interviews and aiding growth decisions
Requirements
- Experience working on early-stage teams in a zero-to-one capacity
- Practical background in designing and implementing production web applications
- Experience building and integrating APIs and relational databases such as Postgres
- Proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, React, and TypeScript
