The chosen candidate will work on a complex medical software project featuring C++ backend microservices, React and TypeScript microfrontends, gRPC communication, and OPC UA hardware integration. Daily duties involve creating and executing automated test scripts for user interfaces, APIs, and backend systems, alongside troubleshooting failures and keeping regression suites up to date. Engineers will collaborate closely with software requirements leads, developers, and fellow quality assurance specialists.
The tech stack for this role relies on Python, Playwright, Behave, Docker, Docker Compose, and GitLab. This position requires handling local test runs and managing pipelines within continuous integration and continuous deployment environments. Responsibilities
- Design, execute, implement, and maintain automated test cases covering frontend workflows, backend services, and APIs.
- Review requirements and acceptance criteria to spot additional test scenarios and work with developers on testability.
- Build and maintain automated testing scripts utilizing Python, Playwright, and a Behave-based BDD structure.
- Manage and enhance test environments, frameworks, mocks, test clients, and test data.
- Troubleshoot failing tests, log defects, and oversee smoke and regression testing collections.
- Run tests locally and via CI/CD pipelines.
- Partner with software requirements leads, developers, and other automation engineers.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of professional background in software test automation.
- Practical knowledge of API testing, with REST proficiency required and gRPC or OPC UA serving as an asset.
- Background in creating and maintaining regression suites and automated test cases.
- Proficiency in Python at an advanced level, or a robust automation history with readiness to learn Python.
- Familiarity with TDD and BDD, with preference for Behave knowledge.
- Experience utilizing Playwright paired with Python instead of JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Working knowledge of Docker, specifically Docker Compose.
- Acquaintance with Git version control workflows and CI/CD.
- Solid collaboration, communication, and analytical abilities.
Qualifications
- Experience with GitLab.
- Familiarity with VS Code inside WSL2 and DevContainers.
- Background in hardware mocking.
- Knowledge of gRPC and Protocol Buffers.
- Experience with OPC UA.
- Familiarity with pipeline scripting or shell scripting.
