Job Description

Motive is hiring an Offensive Security Engineer for its red team function. The engineer belongs to the Product Security Team and acts as the principal security contact for software and engineering groups. The role evaluates how well the organization is protected, runs adversary emulation and offensive assessments centered on cloud systems, and pushes for fixes once problems are found. The role is listed as on-site.

Planned work covers red team campaigns, adversary simulations, and focused assessments. The engineer reviews cloud infrastructure, identity designs, build pipelines, container workloads, and cloud-native services, and hunts for attack routes built on misconfigured identity rights, excessive privileges, exposed secrets, metadata misuse, unsafe automation, and weak service settings.

The engineer also checks whether logging, alerting, monitoring, and response processes actually catch intrusions, and coordinates this alongside blue team and detection engineering staff. Keeping pace with new attacker methods, cloud exploitation trends, and abuse patterns that affect large enterprises is part of the job.

Candidates should have five-plus years working in offensive security, red teaming, pentesting, or detection validation. They should understand attacker behavior well enough to map findings onto MITRE ATT&CK and write concise reports that both specialists and non-specialists can act on. The posted compensation range for Canada is CAD 146,000 to 190,000.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and carry out red team campaigns, adversary emulation, and focused assessments in cloud environments
  • Evaluate cloud infrastructure, identity architecture, build pipelines, containers, and cloud-native services
  • Find and verify attack paths built on IAM misconfigurations, overprivileged roles, exposed secrets, and insecure automation
  • Test detection and response coverage alongside blue team and detection engineering staff
  • Follow new attacker techniques and cloud exploitation trends
  • Push remediation of issues identified during assessments

Requirements

  • Five-plus years working in offensive security, red teaming, pentesting, or detection validation
  • Working knowledge of adversary behavior and the skill to map findings to MITRE ATT&CK
  • Skill in producing tight, practical reports that explain technical problems to mixed audiences
  • Relevant certifications such as OSCP or OSEP, or cloud security credentials

Benefits

  • Health, pharmacy, optical, and dental coverage
  • Paid time off and sick time
  • Disability coverage, both short-term and long-term
  • Life insurance
  • 401(k) contribution
  • Restricted stock units may form part of pay for certain roles
