Canonical, the publisher of the Ubuntu platform used across cloud, AI, and IoT environments, is seeking an Organisational Development Associate. This position serves as an entry point for driven early-career professionals into the company's People Track. Rather than acting as a back-office or generalist human resources function, the role places individuals directly inside real teams to diagnose health, management effectiveness, and operational workflows.
The role requires individuals to design and drive concrete operational improvements alongside senior practitioners. Associates help managers deliver 360 performance feedback, contribute to the creation of functional playbooks, and participate in coaching initiatives. Canonical maintains a globally distributed workforce where colleagues work remotely across EMEA and the Americas, while gathering in person two to four times a year in international locations.
Responsibilities
- Embed within operational teams to observe daily mechanics and identify functional bottlenecks
- Run diagnostics evaluating team health, engagement, direct feedback, and management effectiveness
- Design and execute end-to-end operational improvements alongside senior practitioners
- Assist managers in delivering structured 360 performance feedback to team members
- Help establish department playbooks, tools, and shared operational standards
- Engage in coaching and organisational development alongside experienced practitioners
Requirements
- Demonstrated track record of early leadership, organization, and driving change
- Academic foundation in organisational or industrial psychology, behavioural science, or a comparable discipline
- Exceptional academic history spanning high school and university levels
- Up to two years of professional experience following graduation
- Business-level written and spoken English proficiency
- Willingness to travel up to four times annually for internal company events
Qualifications
- Prior exposure to people operations, organisational initiatives, coaching, or consulting through internships, studies, or early employment
- Demonstrated interest in the mechanics of management and organisational design
- Familiarity with working alongside data
