Job Description
This senior individual contributor post in Bengaluru is for a principal architect who sets the high-level design behind food and grocery ordering and delivery at Swiggy. The remit spans discovery, checkout, pricing and discounts, assortment and fulfillment.
The architect is answerable for each stage from requirements through design, release and live support of Tier-1 services. Goals include availability above 99.95 percent for a multi-tenant stack that processes millions of transactions daily at very high request rates. The role leads responses to severe cross-team incidents, drives root-cause investigations, and converts fixes into durable protections such as regression suites, safer feature toggles and staged canary rollouts.
Additional duties include weighing cost and performance trade-offs across the whole stack, building internal developer platforms and tools, designing integrations that cross company lines under external deadlines, and deciding technology choices and standards. The architect also advises on where applied machine learning and generative AI belong in the design and writes code for what they own.
The post asks for 15-plus years building and shipping software, with hands-on architecture work, deep knowledge of distributed systems and data stores, a proven incident-response record, and strong coding in Java or Go. Requirements
- 15 or more years in software engineering and product delivery, with hands-on architecture ownership
- Deep grasp of distributed systems, including queues, databases, caching and container orchestration
- Proven leadership of incident response for high-traffic outages
- Excellent grasp of algorithms and data structures, with strong coding in Java or Go
- Working fluency with applied ML or generative AI in production
