Job Description
Wise is hiring a Principal Product Manager for its Onboarding and KYC team in Hyderabad. This is a senior, full-time, on-site role that owns product strategy and the roadmap for customer onboarding, identity verification and financial crime mitigation across Asia-Pacific. The person carries work from early research through to delivery, release, tracking and refinement.
The work includes building digital identity verification and electronic know-your-customer (eKYC) experiences for countries including Japan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the Philippines. Localisation is a major theme, such as connecting local identity providers and registry checks to Wise's global platform, and applying country-specific financial crime controls. The role balances conversion, customer experience, operating cost, regulatory requirements and risk with engineering, design, analytics, operations, and risk and compliance teams.
Success is measured through onboarding outcomes: how many customers adopt a first product, how many complete verification, how quickly verification happens, how often manual review is needed, the cost to serve and the quality of financial crime decisions. The principal PM is also expected to generalise the strongest APAC capabilities so that other Wise product teams can reuse them, and to stay close to the specifics of how customers move through the process, the metrics dashboards, system design, how rules are read, unusual cases and outages.
The posting asks for at least eight years in the workforce, ideally five or more in product management or adjacent roles, and a strong record of delivering customer-facing products from concept to launch. Candidates from outside product management still need at least three years as a senior product manager. Structured problem-solving, analytical skill with SQL or similar tools, and enough technical knowledge to collaborate with engineers on integrations, reliability and monitoring are required. Experience in finance, identity, KYC, risk or compliance is preferred, and experience with KYB, fraud prevention and multi-country launches is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Shape direction and plans for the APAC sign-up, know-your-customer and financial crime area
- Build digital identity verification and eKYC experiences for Japan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the Philippines
- Connect regional ID providers and registry lookups, plus APAC-specific checks, to Wise's worldwide platform
- Balance conversion, customer experience, cost, regulation and financial crime risk with cross-functional partners
- Raise onboarding KPIs like completion of checks, how fast checks finish, rate of human reviews and cost per customer served
- Build country-specific financial crime controls into the in-product environment
- Generalise APAC capabilities so other Wise product teams can reuse them
Requirements
- Substantial product management background, preferably in fintech, identity, onboarding, KYC, risk, compliance or another regulated field
- Eight or more years in the workforce, ideally five or more in product management or adjacent roles
- Candidates from outside product management need at least three years as a senior product manager
- Proven delivery of customer-facing products from concept to launch
- Structured problem-solving and practical planning toward impact
- Strong analytics, including SQL or similar tools, with evidence-based trade-offs
- Enough technical grounding to collaborate with engineers on system design, integrations and monitoring
- Customer focus, using research, support insights and funnel data
- Clear, concise writing and speech, plus skill at swaying senior decision-makers
Qualifications
- Experience with KYC or KYB checks, digital identity tools, national ID schemes or registry links (nice to have)
- Experience in financial crime prevention, including risk models and scam prevention (nice to have)
- Experience launching products in multiple nations or tailoring global platforms to regional markets (nice to have)
- Experience coordinating geographically dispersed groups across product, engineering, compliance and regional leadership (nice to have)
