Job Description
Databricks is looking for a Principal Security Field Engineer to join its Security Field Engineering group. The team helps data teams understand how secure the Databricks platform is and assists account teams when customers run security reviews. The role reports to the leader of Security Field Engineering. No single office is named, and the posting says candidates in other U.S. locations will also be considered.
Much of the work happens in front of customers. The engineer answers security and compliance questions, explains how architectures are protected, and works through concerns raised by customers and field staff. The role also produces reusable materials, including slide decks and white papers, and sometimes writes small programs that customers can run.
Internal contributions matter too. The group creates enablement content, knowledge base articles and automation for field staff and customers, with a preference for work that scales rather than one-off answers. The engineer passes customer pain points along to product management and product marketing so that the product and its messaging improve.
Candidates need seven or more years of hands-on experience in client-facing security roles, ideally including time spent making hard ideas clear to buyers. Experience across several security areas is valued, such as IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, network and endpoint protection, web applications, vulnerability management, identity and SIEM tools. Some scripting or coding skill is expected, and prior exposure to Databricks itself would give a candidate a clear edge.
Posted base pay depends on location zone: Zone 1 spans 270,300 to 371,700 USD, Zone 2 243,300 to 334,500, Zone 3 229,800 to 315,900, and Zone 4 216,200 to 297,350. Total compensation may also cover yearly performance bonus eligibility, equity and the listed benefits.
