This full-time, on-site Principal Software Engineer role focuses on AI-native user experience at ServiceNow in Hyderabad. The engineer defines the long-term architecture for AI-native interfaces across the platform, designs how agent output and reasoning reach end users, and owns the workspace surface that AI features are built on.
The role also includes hands-on frontend and platform coding and mentoring senior engineers, and it suits a leader with more than fifteen years of frontend or web platform experience who has shipped AI-driven user experiences.
Responsibilities
- Define the long-term architecture for AI-native user experiences, including design systems and streaming output
- Design interfaces that make agent reasoning, uncertainty and human review flows clear and controllable
- Own component architecture, design system consistency and performance for the workspace surface
- Partner with ML and platform teams on agent orchestration and translate it into usable UX patterns
Requirements
- Fifteen or more years of software engineering with progression into senior technical leadership
- Deep UX and AI-native expertise, with experience shipping intelligent interfaces rather than only consuming an LLM API
- Strong coding in React, TypeScript and component or design systems, with working knowledge of Java, Python, Postgres and Kubernetes
Qualifications
- Understanding of agent orchestration and tool-calling protocols such as MCP, and reasoning traceability
- Prior distributed systems performance or scalability work is a plus
- Open-source contributions to design-system or agent-framework projects are a plus
