Job Description

Wise is a company building money without borders, and it reports more than 15 million customers. It handles over £9 billion of volume each month. Its operations teams number over 2,500 people, located in Singapore, Hungary, Estonia and the US, with 800 more in product and engineering.

This London-based Process Management Lead role sits in the newly created Business Process Excellence function, which will define the benchmarks for mapping, measuring and improving operations. The lead works with area leads to define what good looks like and helps reshape today's operations into a system that is more efficient, sturdier and easier to scale. It also helps the company keep pace with changing rules and strengthens its detection and prevention of financial crime.

Responsibilities include mapping current as-is operations and designing standardized to-be processes, setting a year-long strategy and execution roadmap with measurable key results, mapping Level 1 operational controls into the new design, and defining KPIs, monitoring methods and documentation for audit and regulatory review. The role leads a group of process engineers, uses data to weigh cost against efficiency, and works with product, engineering, controls and compliance experts. The posting asks for six or more years in process engineering or management, a proven record of mapping complex processes, experience in fintech or financial institutions, and prior experience hiring, onboarding and managing the performance of people. The lead also builds a year-long hiring plan for the teams in the domain.

Responsibilities

  • Map current operational processes, identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and design streamlined future-state processes
  • Draft a year-long strategy and execution roadmap, with key results, for the domain
  • Fit every existing Level 1 control into the redesigned process and document proof that each one works
  • Define KPIs, monitoring mechanisms and audit-ready documentation
  • Work with product and engineering to prioritize the biggest opportunities
  • Build data-driven business cases and influence roadmaps without formal authority
  • Track and report metrics for customer outcomes and watch for patterns, such as SLA breaches
  • Lead and coach process engineers, and manage their performance

Requirements

  • Six-plus years of process work, or product-building experience at scale inside complicated organizations
  • A proven record of mapping complex processes, dependencies and critical paths
  • Experience designing scalable operating models that let other teams improve
  • Strong data skills to measure impact and communicate findings persuasively
  • A track record of resolving complex problems and acting autonomously
  • Experience leading people, including hiring, onboarding and performance management
  • Background in fintech firms or other financial institutions
