Job Description

Figma is seeking technically-minded product designers to help build platforms that make design accessible to everyone. The company provides software enabling teams to brainstorm, prototype, translate layouts into code, and iterate using artificial intelligence. This position involves shaping the future of software creation by working on core product surfaces, developer tools, design systems, AI features, and interactivity.

The role is suited for systems thinkers, storytellers, and craftspeople who enjoy turning complex problems into straightforward solutions. Professionals in this position will partner closely with engineering, product management, and research peers to guide strategic direction and ship high-quality product improvements. Openings span multiple seniority levels across various internal teams.

This is a full-time position that can be performed from a United States hub or remotely within the United States. Employees are required to attend in-person onboarding, and video interviews require candidates to keep their cameras active.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to overall strategy and decision-making regarding product direction
  • Develop and refine clear storytelling concerning product needs and opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product management, design, and research peers
  • Create and iterate on user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals
  • Provide constructive feedback to peers to support team quality
  • Design and ship high-quality features and improvements within core product surfaces
  • Participate in design critiques, mentor peers, and share best practices across teams

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience designing user experience and user interface for a software product of comparable scale and complexity
  • Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for visual craft including layout, typography, and composition
  • Fluency in interaction design and prototyping to communicate nuanced design choices
  • Demonstrated track record of independently guiding design processes from discovery to launch while balancing technical and business constraints
  • Ability to drive decision-making through structured thinking, clear rationale, and user-centered research
  • Experience transforming ambiguous problems in complex systems into simple solutions with defined goals
  • Background in researching, prototyping, or building products utilizing artificial intelligence or other emerging tools

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML and CSS
  • Experience with prototyping tools like Origami
  • Familiarity with advanced platform features including Auto Layout, Variables, and Components
  • Design and development hybrid background or past experience building websites or applications
  • History of working on canvas-based interfaces or tools supporting creative workflows
  • Prior involvement in creating, maintaining, or contributing to a design system
