Job Description
This full-time, remote product manager position at Alpaca concentrates on tokenization products, with the Instant Tokenization Network (ITN) at the center. The person would shape the tools used by token issuers, authorized participants, market makers and brokers, and define the plan that ties those groups together.
Alpaca presents itself as an infrastructure provider for brokerage, offering trading in stocks, ETFs, options, crypto and fixed income through developer APIs built for institutions. Its clients include broker-dealers, investment advisers, asset managers, hedge funds and crypto platforms. The company reports a globally distributed team of more than 400 people and says it has raised $400 million from a group of investors.
The role is accountable for direction, roadmap and measures of success across the tokenization area. Major initiatives include mint and redeem processes, decisions about settlement and custody, and issuing tokens directly on the blockchain for partners. Competing demands from partners, regulators, engineering capacity and revenue potential are weighed, and each item ends with a yes, no or not-now decision.
The product manager would conduct discovery with issuers, market makers, broker firms, trading venues, custodians and large institutional firms, and coordinate with legal, compliance and operations on rules for tokenized securities and real-world assets. The posting seeks a leader who has run regulated digital-asset offerings in live production settings and understands how trading, custody, clearing and settlement work on blockchain infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Define direction, the roadmap and success measures for the tokenization area and its issuer and broker tools.
- Take flagship projects from start to finish, covering mint and redeem processes, settlement and custody choices, and token issuance on the blockchain for partners.
- Rank work by partner demand, regulatory limits, engineering capacity and revenue potential, giving clear yes, no or not-now answers.
- Weigh build versus buy, direct versus partner distribution, and onshore versus offshore options.
- Lead discovery sessions with issuers, market makers, broker firms, trading venues, custodians and institutional clients.
- Improve the issuer and authorized participant experience across documentation, sandbox fidelity, onboarding and handling of exceptions.
- Shape broker tooling such as APIs, SDKs, documentation and sample integrations so brokers and fintech firms can offer tokenized equities.
- Coordinate with legal and compliance on requirements covering transfer agents, broker-dealers, custody, anti-money-laundering rules and tokenized securities.
- Track regulatory and rival developments in tokenized securities and real-world assets, and bring them into the roadmap early.
- Get engineering, operations, finance, risk, business development and leadership working from one tokenization plan.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a field such as computing, engineering or finance, or equivalent experience.
- Six or more years in product, engineering or startup-founding roles, with senior responsibility in fields such as tokenization, crypto-asset businesses, brokerage, exchange operations, post-trade plumbing or capital-markets technology.
- Proven hands-on work with tokenized securities, real-world-asset issuance, on-chain clearing or other closely related regulated digital-asset offerings.
- Working knowledge of equity market structure, including trading, custody, clearing, settlement, stock lending and post-trade operations.
- Experience delivering products in regulated settings, working closely with legal, compliance, risk and operations.
- Background in turning partner or customer research into a ranked product plan.
- Clear writing and speaking skills for engineers and senior executives alike.
- Comfortable weighing returns, partner demand, regulatory exposure, technical feasibility, timing and budget.
- Uses AI tools routinely in day-to-day product work.
Qualifications
- Prior employment with a broker-dealer, stock exchange, transfer agent, custody provider, liquidity provider or institutional digital-asset firm.
- Familiarity with tokenized money market funds or other regulated products that represent tokenized assets.
- Earlier work on RFQ or atomic settlement flows.
- Experience that spans regulated financial products, such as those at broker-dealers, exchanges or custodians, and crypto-native infrastructure.
