Job Description
Zopa has an opening for a Product Manager on Unsecured Personal Loans, based in London. This is one of the company's biggest and most mature products. The role is part of UPL Growth and concerns the rules that decide who is approved, the data behind those rules, and the customer journey that leads to an offer, including how clear and quick the process feels to the applicant.
The manager is accountable for a defined portion of the UPL growth plan, shepherding an opportunity from sizing through launch, measurement and refinement. Candidate projects include getting more value from third-party data, reworking a partner's onboarding route, or revising the logic that drives lending decisions. The manager sits in a small team with three backend engineering groups and works closely with Credit Risk, Data Science and First Line Risk. Much of the work is analytical and commercial, involving data, sizing and decision logic, with customer research in a supporting role. The manager also generates fresh growth ideas, from reusing existing information in new ways to tapping outside sources and partner agreements. The post is hybrid, with two to three days a week in the London office.
Suitable candidates think quantitatively, have a record of product choices that moved commercial numbers, and can negotiate scope against timescales with engineers.
Responsibilities
- Own a defined section of the UPL roadmap, carrying each opportunity from sizing through launch, measurement and iteration.
- Translate commercial and customer evidence into a product plan that settles where to concentrate and what to set aside.
- Design the origination and decisioning flow, including the rules, journeys and data that accompany each loan offer.
- Run discovery alongside Engineering, Credit Risk and Data Science to identify the most valuable and buildable route to growth.
- Create propositions that let applicants see what they are getting before they commit to a full application.
- Set scope and sequencing by balancing customer benefit, risk, commercial payoff and engineering cost.
- Mine data for friction points, test hypotheses and quantify what each change achieves.
- Feed new growth concepts into the roadmap, including partner deals and external data feeds.
Requirements
- Strong analytical instincts that surface insights others miss in the data.
- A track record of product decisions with measurable commercial returns.
- Able to negotiate scope and timing with engineers.
- Sound judgement in ambiguous situations and a bias toward practical progress.
- Communicates clearly with senior leaders across technical and risk-focused teams.
Qualifications
- Experience in lending, consumer credit or adjacent financial products.
- Familiarity with origination, underwriting, pricing or servicing.
- A quantitative background gained through study or equivalent practice.
- Time spent in a fast-paced, data-driven fintech.
Benefits
- Can spend as many as 120 days a year working from overseas, provided they hold the right to work in that country.
