Job Description

Intelerad is seeking a remote, full-time Product Owner specializing in Cloud and Platform with expertise in HL7 and DICOM to take charge of the Universal Gateway backlog. The organization develops modern medical imaging solutions that simplify complex workflows, enhance operational efficiencies, and empower healthcare providers to deliver faster diagnoses and better patient outcomes. Headquartered in Raleigh and Montreal with nearly 800 staff members, the company serves roughly 2,000 healthcare institutions globally and recently received Best in KLAS recognition.

This individual will manage the single ingress and egress tier handling DICOM studies and HL7 messages moving into and out of the corporate cloud platform, replacing legacy edge servers and relays with a unified service. Operating as a technical bridge between product strategy and engineering execution, the successful candidate collaborates directly with platform engineering, hosting, and SRE units. Responsibilities include defining acceptance criteria, shaping multi-tenant isolation, setting non-functional targets, and ensuring platform reliability for clinical imaging operations where downtime impacts patient care.

The role is suited for professionals with a strong background in healthcare connectivity infrastructure, medical imaging integration engines, or interoperability standards. Compensation falls between USD 86,250 and 115,000 per year, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog for Universal Gateway, writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria for DICOM DIMSE, DICOMweb, HL7 v2 messaging, and pathology whole slide imaging ingestion
  • Partner daily with engineering and design teams throughout development phases like sprint planning, refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Make timely trade-off decisions regarding scope, priority, and sequencing, and escalate strategic or financial matters to leadership
  • Define and validate non-functional criteria such as failover SLAs, RTO/RPO, high availability, throughput, and latency targets across imaging modalities
  • Gather input from sales, customer success, support, and clients to support market research and backlog refinement
  • Track delivery metrics, velocity, and release progress while incorporating feedback from user acceptance testing and beta initiatives

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of total experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, or integration and interface engineer
  • Minimum of 2 years of focused experience working on platform, infrastructure, or integration products rather than end-user feature applications
  • Working knowledge of agile and scrum methodologies along with backlog management software like Jira or Azure DevOps
  • Hands-on working knowledge of DICOM services, DICOMweb, AE title configuration, and conformance statements
  • Hands-on working knowledge of HL7 v2 messaging including ADT, ORM, and ORU
  • Experience partnering directly with engineering teams to lead technical discussions on feasibility, sequencing, and high-availability design for Linux-based containerized services

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, technology, or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with medical imaging systems such as PACS, VNA, and RIS, or integration routers like Mirth, NextGen Connect, Rhapsody, and Cloverleaf
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence rather than direct authority
  • Experience defining SLAs, RTO/RPO, or reliability targets for mission-critical or clinical systems
  • Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS architectures, tenant isolation, and healthcare privacy regulations like HIPAA or GDPR
  • Exposure to digital pathology whole slide imaging or high-volume modality workflows such as mammography and large CT

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Medical coverage
  • Financial benefits
  • Retirement plans
  • Paid time off
  • Bonus and other compensation options as part of a total compensation package
