Canva is seeking a Regional HR Lead to direct the people strategy across South East Asia, which serves as the company's largest region outside of ANZ with roughly 900 employees spanning the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. This position is based out of the Manila campus and operates on a hybrid schedule. The incoming professional will act as a bridge between global strategies and local requirements, overseeing a team of four professionals across Location Partners, People Relations, and People Partnering.
This role suits an experienced human resources practitioner who thrives at the intersection of international strategy and local operational realities. Responsibilities encompass managing regional employment compliance, handling complex employee relations, steering local organizational design, and scaling company culture authentically across diverse markets. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership capabilities with localized regulatory knowledge to support staff members and foster team development.
Responsibilities
- Translate and operationalize global human resources initiatives for the South East Asia region to ensure local relevance and compliance
- Provide dedicated HR business partnering support to a designated client group within the region
- Manage regional employment compliance, risk mitigation, and localized regulations in collaboration with Location Partners and legal counsel
- Act as the primary escalation contact for intricate employee relations issues and critical regional incidents
- Scale company culture inclusively while monitoring organizational health through people analytics
- Lead, mentor, and set priorities for a team of four across Location Partners, People Relations, and People Partnering
Requirements
- Demonstrated senior human resources business partnering experience within a complex, global organization
- In-depth familiarity with the employment landscape, regulatory requirements, and cultural nuances of the Philippines and broader South East Asia
- Proven background in leading and developing human resources teams within matrixed structures
