Grafana Labs is seeking a Revenue Accounting Manager to join its finance department on a 100% remote basis within the United States. In this individual contributor position, the professional will report to the Director of Accounting for Revenue & Technical Accounting. The organization creates fully managed observability software trusted by over ten thousand organizations worldwide, including industry leaders like Bloomberg, Microsoft, and Salesforce. This role suits an analytical finance professional who possesses deep knowledge of ASC 606 and wants to guide revenue recognition, month-end closing, and automation initiatives within a fast-scaling technology enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Apply ASC 606 standards to customer agreements involving subscriptions, usage models, committed spends, variable consideration, multi-element deals, and contract updates
- Examine non-standard contract provisions and produce technical accounting documentation that is audit-ready
- Discover and deploy automation, artificial intelligence, and auxiliary tools to refine revenue procedures
- Execute and oversee monthly accounting close tasks for revenue, such as journal entries, account reconciliations, estimate calculations, and analytics
- Translate accounting conclusions into system settings and manage revenue automation tools like NetSuite ARM
- Deliver accurate and timely month-end close operations
- Generate audit-ready supporting schedules to assist with financial reporting
- Partner with Sales, Legal, DealOps, and Billing teams to review deal structures and resolve revenue terms prior to booking
- Assess revenue impacts arising from new offerings, pricing modifications, and go-to-market strategies to establish accounting positions
- Design, test, and maintain SOX-compliant internal controls related to revenue
- Serve as a primary contact for external auditors by furnishing documentation for quarterly and annual reviews
- Examine large datasets using Python, SQL, advanced Excel, or other methods to uncover root causes and trends in revenue, billings, and deferred revenue
Requirements
- Possess six or more years of progressive revenue accounting experience acquired at a Big 4 accounting firm, a technology company, or a SaaS enterprise
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of ASC 606 principles, contract modifications, and consumption- or usage-based revenue models
- Bring practical experience utilizing ERP systems, CRM platforms, and revenue automation solutions like NetSuite ARM, Salesforce, and Zone Billing
- Exhibit strong problem-solving abilities and a history of executing operational enhancements
Qualifications
- Hold a bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
- Hold a Certified Public Accountant designation
- Possess working knowledge of Python, SQL, Claude, Codex, BigQuery, or advanced Excel functions
