Job Description
Bright Vision Technologies, an enterprise software development and technology consulting firm operating across the United States, is hiring a remote Rust Developer on a full-time, direct W2 basis. The compensation ranges from $145,000 to $205,000 per year. This technical role sits on a platform engineering team tasked with constructing next-generation distributed infrastructure, low-latency backend services, and cloud-native components.
The position requires an engineer skilled in building memory-safe, highly concurrent applications and scalable APIs. The person in this role will design resilient services, handle asynchronous processing pipelines, optimize application performance, and collaborate with architects, product engineering groups, and DevOps personnel. Current engineering initiatives include creating high-performance API gateways, real-time data streaming pipelines, distributed job scheduling services, and secure identity management infrastructure.
Candidates must possess extensive professional software development experience, including multiple years focused specifically on production Rust environments. Eligible applicants include U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, and H-1B transfer candidates, though the organization cannot sponsor new H-1B visa petitions for this opening.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-performance backend services in Rust for large-scale distributed systems
- Construct low-latency APIs, asynchronous processing services, and event-driven microservices
- Develop networking applications using TCP, UDP, HTTP/2, gRPC, WebSockets, and QUIC
- Build concurrent applications using Tokio and the async/await ecosystem
- Create resilient services designed to handle millions of transactions with fault tolerance and high availability
- Optimize CPU efficiency, memory management, thread scheduling, and overall application performance
- Integrate enterprise messaging platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, and Redis Streams
- Build secure APIs and authentication mechanisms supporting OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect, and mTLS
- Establish observability features like structured logging, performance monitoring, and distributed tracing
- Take part in architecture reviews, code evaluations, system design sessions, and production support
- Partner with DevOps personnel to automate deployments via CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code
- Troubleshoot complex production issues related to networking, concurrency, memory usage, and distributed setups
Requirements
- Minimum of six years of professional software engineering experience building enterprise applications
- At least three years of hands-on Rust development experience within production environments
- Extensive familiarity with the Rust programming language, including the ownership model, borrowing, lifetimes, traits, generics, and macros
- Extensive background in asynchronous Rust engineering using Tokio, async/await, Futures, and Actix or Axum
- Proficiency in concurrent programming, multithreading, synchronization primitives, and lock-free concepts
- Experience constructing RESTful APIs, gRPC services, and high-performance backend software
- Solid understanding of operating system fundamentals, covering memory management, process scheduling, file systems, and networking
- Background operating in Linux production environments and utilizing command-line tools
- Experience developing cloud-native applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Strong SQL capabilities with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server alongside NoSQL database familiarity
- Hands-on practice with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes
Qualifications
- Experience building distributed systems for high-throughput financial, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, or telecommunications platforms
- Familiarity with Rust web frameworks including Axum, Warp, Rocket, or Actix Web
- Experience developing Kubernetes Operators or cloud-native infrastructure utilities
- Background with service mesh technologies like Istio or Linkerd
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform or Pulumi
- Experience utilizing Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and distributed tracing platforms
- Knowledge of cryptographic libraries, TLS, secure communications, and certificate management
- Experience creating command-line tools and systems utilities in Rust
- Familiarity with C/C++ interoperability through Foreign Function Interface
- Contributions to open-source Rust projects or active participation in the Rust community
