Job Description
ElevenLabs is hiring a Safety Engineer to focus on free tier abuse. The role covers putting automated moderation and guardrail systems into production and running them day to day across a multimodal product range. The main focus is detecting and preventing abuse of the company's free plans, and the engineer owns the technical execution from architecture through deployment and monitoring.
ElevenLabs works at the intersection of AI research and product building. It launched in January 2023 and now counts millions of individual users and thousands of business customers. Its platforms include ElevenAgents, ElevenCreative and ElevenAPI, and the company says it has raised $781 million and was last valued at $22 billion.
The engineer builds backend systems that scale and can spot abuse, deploys AI and machine learning models into production, and designs APIs, data pipelines and services that support real-time and batch moderation. The job includes setting up monitoring, alerting and observability, including service-level indicators and objectives, and working with ML engineers to move research models into production systems. The engineer also helps set technical direction for future guardrails across the platform. Candidates should bring hands-on work with free-plan abuse, payments-style fraud or fake-account and bot-farm defense at scale, at least six years of backend engineering on production systems, and strong Python skills. Familiarity with AWS or GCP, Docker and Kubernetes, and monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana is expected. The job is remote, can be done from any country, or from offices in Warsaw, London, New York or San Francisco.
