The organization is seeking a Safety Test and Validation Engineer to join its Safety Engineering division, collaborating alongside specialists in robotics, vehicle engineering, and control systems. This on-site position focuses on ensuring that automated vehicles meet critical safety benchmarks through rigorous evaluation.

In this capacity, the professional will manage testing operations stretching from individual components and sub-systems up to complete vehicle crash assessments. Responsibilities include drafting precise testing protocols, coordinating logistics with external laboratories, overseeing hardware preparation, and analyzing post-test data. The role suits a meticulous practitioner with automotive testing expertise who thrives in a collaborative environment and wishes to impact the future of driverless transportation.

It offers an opportunity to apply technical creativity and rigorous engineering discipline directly to physical vehicle prototyping and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and monitor safety testing activities along with vehicle hardware needs
  • Create comprehensive crash test requests and work with integration teams regarding instrumentation
  • Act as the technical contact for outside testing facilities, including on-site oversight in the US and EU
  • Verify that component, sub-system, sled, and full-vehicle tests follow the established schedule
  • Manage the preparation, teardown, and rebuilding of test vehicles
  • Perform post-test data analysis and collaborate with labs to verify data integrity
  • Document findings thoroughly and share observations with engineering groups
  • Record and monitor safety performance defects using Jira

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional background in automotive development and testing
  • Comprehensive understanding of FMVSS and other legal and consumer safety regulations
  • Practical background in passive safety test planning, vehicle configuration, and execution
  • Strong organizational and communication capabilities emphasizing hardware planning and process definition
  • Proficiency with 3D design and PLM software, with preference for CATIA 3DX or CATIA V5

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with CAN networks and data interrogation using CANALYZER
  • Experience working with test sensors including load cells, strain gauges, and accelerometers, plus data acquisition hardware
  • Background in establishing and executing operational workflows within testing settings
  • Familiarity with requirements management platforms such as Polarion
  • Competence in creating scripts or templates for data analysis and integrity checks using tools like Python, MetaPost, or Hypergraph
  • Knowledge of DFMEA methodologies
