Vercel, known as the agentic infrastructure company, is seeking a Security Engineer, Cloud to join its Cloud Security Engineering team on a full-time, remote basis within the United States. Vercel helps builders transition from initial concepts to production environments efficiently, securely, and with an exceptional developer experience. Trusted by millions of developers and organizations such as OpenAI, PayPal, and Ramp, the company is expanding its platform capabilities for both human developers and agents.
In this position, you will report directly to the Security Operations Manager and play an integral role in hardening the company's infrastructure and safeguarding its cloud-native platform. You will collaborate closely with platform and infrastructure teams to embed security into architecture and deployment pipelines, while designing scalable security controls. Candidates who live near the San Francisco or New York offices have a hybrid arrangement with mandatory in-office days on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable security controls across the cloud-native platform
- Harden infrastructure components via infrastructure-as-code, policy enforcement, and service isolation
- Construct secure-by-default infrastructure and code continuous integration and deployment pipelines
- Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to integrate security best practices into architecture and workflows
- Research cloud security trends and adopt cutting-edge technologies to boost platform resilience
- Conduct threat modeling, risk analysis, and mitigation planning for critical systems
- Drive enhancements in monitoring, detection, and platform-level incident response
- Build, deploy, and maintain relevant tooling
Requirements
- Possess at least 8 years of experience working in infrastructure or platform security roles
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of secure cloud infrastructure including AWS or GCP, identity and access management, and system hardening
- Show proficiency with tools such as Terraform, CDK, Kubernetes, and CI/CD security
- Display skill in balancing engineering realities with principled security practices
- Bring a proven track record of shipping secure and resilient systems at scale
Qualifications
- Experience building or scaling security automation pipelines
- Contributions to open-source security projects or tools
- Certifications such as GCP Security Engineer, AWS certifications, CISSP, or OSCP
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Cybersecurity or related disciplines
