This full-time, on-site role involves partnering with sales representatives to drive revenue and secure new business by providing technical expertise tailored to government operations. Ideal candidates possess a strong background in public sector environments and cybersecurity fundamentals, coupled with excellent communication skills to bridge technical data and executive business outcomes.
Daily activities center on building lasting customer trust, delivering platform demonstrations, supporting software trials, and addressing public sector agency challenges while navigating operational constraints and budgets. The position is based in or near the Austin, Texas area with travel requirements up to 25% within the assigned territory.
Responsibilities
- Deliver technical platform demonstrations suited to public sector needs
- Assist with enterprise software trials and proof of value evaluations
- Communicate complex technical findings as business and risk outcomes
- Provide consultative security solutions addressing agency constraints and budgets
- Answer technical inquiries and participate in local industry events
- Collaborate with sales representatives to hit revenue targets and handle RFP responses
- Develop professional relationships with clients, partners, and internal staff
Requirements
- Experience understanding government operations, constraints, compliance, and procurement
- Hands-on cybersecurity experience in areas such as vulnerability management or exposure management
- Clear communication and presentation abilities for technical and executive audiences
- Customer empathy, preparation, accountability, and professional judgment
- High technical curiosity, coachability, and willingness to learn
- Collaborative team player mindset
- Familiarity with public sector compliance frameworks like NIST, CIS, or FedRAMP
- Based in or near the Austin, Texas region with up to 25 percent travel capacity
Qualifications
- Prior hands-on use or administration of Tenable products or ACAS
- Background as a state or local government, higher education, or military security practitioner
- Experience as a public sector security engineer or technical partner employee
- One to three years of previous sales or presales engineering experience
- Foundational knowledge of cloud providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Understanding of network security concepts and enterprise operating systems
- Basic familiarity with scripting or automation tools such as Python
