Job Description
PointClickCare, a private health technology company and leading cloud provider serving long-term and post-acute care facilities, seeks a Senior AI Architect to shape the technical foundation of its artificial intelligence ecosystem. This remote position involves designing and evolving the organization's AI Platform, establishing the infrastructure and guardrails that enable software engineering teams to deploy agentic systems, Model Context Protocol integration layers, model gateways, and generative AI solutions. The role suits a seasoned platform architect who will serve as a technical enabler rather than a product owner, translating product roadmaps into scalable architectural designs and technical decision records.
The chosen professional will steer the AI Engineering team through hands-on mentorship, design evaluations, and architectural reviews, ensuring high standards for system reliability and responsible AI controls. Candidates should note that while the position is remote, attendance at in-person company events such as onboarding, team gatherings, and semi-annual or annual meetings in Mississauga or Salt Lake City is required.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve the architecture of the AI Platform, including the agentic runtime, model gateway, MCP integration layer, and observability services
- Provide technical mentorship and guide the AI Engineering team through design reviews and architectural decisions
- Partner with product teams to analyze upcoming roadmaps and translate capabilities into architectural requirements and decision records
- Enable company engineers to build AI solutions by codifying reference architectures, paved-road templates, and reusable patterns
- Establish platform standards regarding security, responsible AI, evaluation, and observability for production readiness
Requirements
- Twelve or more years of experience in software engineering and platform architecture
- Extensive cloud expertise, with a preference for Azure
- At least five years of focused experience working with AI/ML infrastructure and large-scale generative AI solutions
- Hands-on expertise utilizing agentic systems, multi-agent orchestration, tool use, RAG, vector databases, and production LLMOps
- Demonstrated history of designing internal platforms utilized by other engineering teams, including APIs, SDKs, and developer experience
- Broad architectural knowledge spanning distributed systems, cloud-native environments, data platforms, and security
- Ability to write clear architecture documents and communicate design trade-offs to product and engineering stakeholders
Qualifications
- Familiarity with the Azure AI stack including Azure OpenAI, AKS, and APIM
- Experience utilizing the Databricks lakehouse featuring Unity Catalog and model serving
- Background working within healthcare technology platforms or clinical workflows
- Prior experience guiding engineering teams as a technical lead or senior architect inside a platform organization
- Knowledge of advanced agentic patterns such as agent evaluation, model fine-tuning pipelines, and MCP server design
- Deep understanding of AI governance, model risk management, and responsible AI practices within regulated industries
