Job Description
Gremlin is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to build Chaos Engineering tooling for its Reliability Platform. Gremlin's product lets software groups watch and stress-test systems for reliability weak spots, and it serves hundreds of big organizations, from Fortune 500 firms down to smaller companies. The role is remote and full-time, with a salary range of $220,000 to $290,000 per year.
The engineer works alongside peers, product leads and additional stakeholders to design and build new chaos engineering features, and helps steer product choices around difficult technical issues that touch customers. The role teams up with product and other units to grasp their challenges, outline technical options and their trade-offs, and mentor colleagues. The posting emphasizes care for the customer experience and strong collaboration within a remote team.
Applicants should have five or more years of professional Java engineering experience, along with Go and systems-level programming. Cloud experience with AWS, including Lambda and serverless design, is expected, and experience with other cloud providers is also considered. The posting asks for experience with DynamoDB or another NoSQL or relational database, infrastructure tools such as Linux, Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift, and designing complex distributed systems. A strong commitment to automated testing, CI/CD and sound engineering practice is required.
Extra credit goes to people who have handled on-call rotations, know current JavaScript tooling such as React and TypeScript, and have shipped features from initial idea to live release.
