Spotify is hiring a Senior Data Engineer for its Data Platform team in London. The company operates a global platform connecting users with audio content, and its Platform division develops the core infrastructure, frameworks, and tooling needed to scale the business and support rapid user growth. Within this division, the Data Collection product area focuses on creating reliable infrastructure for handling user behaviour data at scale.
In this hybrid role, the selected candidate will collaborate with product and engineering groups to design and maintain critical data architectures, datasets, and collection systems. The position suits an experienced data professional who wants to contribute to personalization and recommendation engines while enhancing the scalability, usability, and reliability of large-scale data systems.

Responsibilities
- Partner with engineering and product groups to build and maintain essential data pipelines and datasets
- Develop systems capable of gathering and processing user behaviour data at scale
- Support personalization engines, recommendation features, and internal testing tools
- Design and develop data architectures to handle high data volumes and diverse internal users
- Enhance the reliability, scalability, and usability of existing data infrastructure
- Solve complex data challenges across multiple disciplines
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a Data Engineer
- Proficiency in backend development using Java
- Hands-on experience managing large-scale datasets with SQL and tools like BigQuery
- Familiarity with JVM-based data processing frameworks such as Spark, Beam, Flink, or Dataflow
- Knowledge of DevOps methodologies, cloud infrastructure, containerization, and Kubernetes basics
- Experience with data modeling and schema design
