As a remote-first organization, Twilio utilizes artificial intelligence to streamline hiring workflows while ensuring real team members make all final employment choices. Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of senior engineers working on next-generation media processing software
  • Direct technical architecture choices for high-throughput and low-latency media systems
  • Partner with platform, product, and engineering groups to formulate technical roadmaps
  • Promote engineering excellence by maintaining code quality, testing procedures, and operational reliability

Requirements

  • More than 5 years of engineering management experience leading distributed systems teams
  • Understanding of VoIP and Voice infrastructure alongside media handling challenges
  • Background in architecting and constructing large-scale backend services with strict SLOs and high reliability
  • Proficiency in systems design, cloud infrastructure, and microservice architecture
  • Experience handling technical tradeoffs involving scalability, reliability, and feature creation
  • History of delivering complex critical infrastructure projects
  • Experience enhancing developer velocity using AI tools
  • Knowledge of operational excellence, reliability engineering, and performance optimization
  • Communication skills to explain complex technical ideas to diverse audiences
  • Experience with at least one of the following: media processing, streaming technologies, real-time communications systems, or related fields

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with communications protocols including SIP, RTP, or RTCP
  • Knowledge of audio processing, media codecs, packet loss concealment, and transcoding
  • Background in building globally distributed, low-latency systems
  • Experience with systems programming languages like Rust, Java, or C/C++, or platforms such as gStreamer or Asterisk
  • Experience developing Voice AI products
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure on AWS or comparable platforms
