Job Description

Zopa is hiring a Senior FP&A Analyst in London to sharpen its planning, forecasting and scenario modelling. The analyst produces dependable planning outputs and decision-ready insight for longer-range planning and strategic choices. Working with Finance, Risk and Product colleagues, the analyst works out what drives the numbers, tests assumptions and explains financial effects in plain language.

The work covers budgets, multi-year plans and scenario analysis, including input to the internal capital adequacy assessment (ICAAP) and to other capital, strategic and business decisions. The analyst flags the risks, opportunities, sensitivities and possible management responses within forecasts, and partners with FP&A, Product, Treasury, Credit Strategy, Valuations and Impairments teams to track performance. Preparing commentary and presentations for senior leaders and committees is part of the role, as is improving planning routines, Anaplan models and forecasting tools, including with AI. The post is hybrid, with two to three days a week in the London office, and gives exposure to a growing bank's income statement, balance sheet, capital, liquidity, funding and credit risk.

Ideal candidates have strong financial analysis experience, preferably in retail banking or consumer finance, and can turn commercial and economic drivers into credible projections.

Responsibilities

  • Convert commercial, economic and operating drivers into dependable forecasts that guide decisions.
  • Build budgets, long-term plans and scenario models, including ICAAP support.
  • Examine risks, opportunities and sensitivities within forecasts, and propose management responses.
  • Work across the bank to track results, question assumptions and confirm key forecast outputs are understood.
  • Write clear analysis, commentary and decks for leaders and committees.
  • Make planning routines, forecasting models and Anaplan outputs more efficient, using AI where it helps.

Requirements

  • Strong financial analysis background, ideally in retail banking or consumer finance, with a focus on forward-looking planning.
  • Ability to build credible forecasts from commercial, economic and operational drivers.
  • Comfort reading P&L, balance sheet, product, capital, liquidity and risk information together.
  • Working knowledge of credit risk, impairment forecasting or IFRS 9.
  • Able to spot financial risks and opportunities and explain what they mean for planning and capital.
  • Clear communicator who makes complex numbers concise for senior audiences.
  • Skilled at gathering input and challenging assumptions across Finance and the wider business.
  • Comfortable with recurring planning cycles while also responding to one-off analysis and projects.

Qualifications

  • Deeper consumer finance, retail banking or lending experience.
  • Understanding of banking products and balance-sheet mechanics, including funding and capital.
  • Knowledge of IFRS 9, ICAAP, ILAAP, recovery planning, stress testing or bank financial planning.
  • Anaplan or similar planning software, plus experience with AI tools and workflow automation.
  • Experience writing Board and Executive Committee papers.
  • An accounting or finance qualification, or progress toward ACA, ACCA or CIMA.

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Flexible working, including the option to work from overseas for as many as 120 days a year, subject to the right to work in that country.
